More Valuable Than a Sparrow

Matthew 10:29-31 - What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin?

But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid.

You are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows. I was looking at the feeder hanging on our spruce tree, when I noticed a tiny sparrow enjoying the seed my husband had placed there. He was so tiny, and in many ways so plain. This little feathered friend was a mixture of brown, beige and grey. Even though filled with cuteness, nothing was outstanding about his appearance.

Amazing Bible Verse: My mind quickly went to the verse above. It talks so vividly about how important they are to God! He sees a sparrow when they fall. I could not get over the fact that God talked about a sparrow in this verse! Why not the bright red cardinal, the sweet little hummingbird, or the black capped chickadee?

The Message was Clear: Then it hit me, loud and clear! This verse lets you and I know how important we are to God! We may not be outstanding in any shape or form, but to God there is no such thing as average. Everyone of us is loved, cared for & oh so valuable. God is concerned with every detail of our lives no matter how tiny that detail may be. I believe God chose the sparrow for that very reason.

Be Encouraged: Allow your heart to rejoice! God loves you…you are of utmost value to Him. Even if you feel that no one else cares, be assured that God does. You may not have been chosen to be on the cover of the latest magazine, not voted as most likely to succeed…don’t be afraid, don’t despair, you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows!”
